Minnesota Realtors® off to WashingtonLarge delegation will lobby for legislative priorities of MN REALTORS®Annually approximately 150 Minnesota REALTORS® from across the state head to Washington DC to lobby our House and Senate officials for passage of issues important to REALTORS®. The National Association of REALTORS® Mid-Year Meetings are packed with policy meetings and lobbying opportunities. Below is a list of issues that anticipates will be discussed during the meetings. Eminent Domain - NAR adopted a policy at its 2005 Convention that closely resembles language found in the 5th Amendment of the Constitution. Within this policy, states should establish their own rules and laws governing eminent domain without interference from the federal government. Some members believe the federal government should have a role in determining the breadth and scope of eminent domain authority. Department of Commerce Licensing UpdateThe Minnesota Department of Commerce is updating the real estate license renewal process and has run into a small time delay. All brokers will be sent a post-card sized notice that will include IMPORTANT RENEWAL information. Using information provided on the post-card, the primary broker or their designee will be able to go on-line and renew their applicable staff. The Department had hoped to have the on-line renewal available by May 8th, but we have run into a delay. The target date to have the on-line renewal ready is now May 22nd. |
